The Victron Energy Filax 2 Transfer Switch is an ultra-fast automatic AC transfer switch designed to keep sensitive electrical and electronic equipment powered when switching between two AC power sources.
The Filax 2 continuously monitors the priority AC source and automatically transfers the load to an alternate source when the priority source becomes unavailable or falls outside the specified voltage or frequency limits. The priority source is typically utility power, shore power, or a generator, while the alternate source is commonly an inverter or inverter/charger.
With a maximum transfer time of less than 16 milliseconds, the Filax 2 is designed to minimize interruptions and help sensitive equipment such as computers, networking equipment, and other critical electronic loads continue operating without noticeable disruption.
This model, SKU SDFI0000110, is the 110V/50Hz – 120V/60Hz version of the Filax 2 and is intended for 120V AC systems. It supports a maximum current of 16A and can be configured for either 50Hz or 60Hz operation.
When the priority source is restored and remains within the required voltage and frequency limits, the Filax 2 automatically transfers the load back to the priority source. The reverse transfer occurs after the priority source has remained within specification for approximately 30 seconds.
The Filax 2 uses an open-transition (break-before-make) transfer method and is designed specifically for sensitive or critical loads. It is not intended for high-power equipment or loads with high starting-current surges, such as electric motors or washing machines.
